I first heard about Garden State when Zach Braff was interviewed on Leno. He was pretty much there to hype Mikey J. Fox's upcoming appearance on Scrubs, but he did mention that he had made a movie based on all the tall tales he had heard as a child. The concept peaked me interest, but from there, I never heard of it again......
Until I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The trailer was on before the movie. (Saved! was also featured before the movie and that looks good too.) I noticed at the end of the trailer that Braff was the director. I finally clued in that this was the movie from before, and since then I've been highly anticipating this film. I'll admit that I don't watch Scrubs, but if Braff is ever on the tube, I have a hard time changing the channel. The guy's got a great sense of humour, and a load of charisma with the camera. After finally seeing the trailer, and all of the little snippets, I have to see this movie.
The trailer itself is one of the best teaser's I've ever seen. It's a good trailer, not for it's suspenseful "OH MY GOD ITS THAT MOVIE" kind of deal, which I experienced when I saw the Spiderman trailer for the first time, but for it's excellent blend of music, comedy and unique images. The song "Let's Go" by Frou Frou is a beautiful melodic piece that tickles the mind, and eases the senses as it blends in with the video. If the movie can "tickle my mind" as well as the trailer, I'm in for a good cinematic experience.
While this really has nothing to do with the movie, It appeared before Eternal which was produced by Focus Features. Punch Drunk Love and Eternal Sunshine, were mysterious (PDL not as much as Sunshine) and were both immensely entertaining. Hopefully,
Garden State
will complete the "Focus Trident." After all, the title at the end of the credits looks similar to the logo of Focus Features, right?..........Right?
