Match Game P.M.
Gene Rayburn' Tiny Mic

The ruling force of my television continues to be "Match Game" on Game Show Network. Apparently they show all 3 versions of the show, but I really like to watch Match Game P.M. The 90's one sucks because it doesn't have any of the elements that made the originals so great. When you've got Brett Somers, Richard Dawson and the amazing Charles Nelson Reilly, the responses to the simple fill-in-the-blank questions are still funny, decades later. The show is about having the contestants match wit against the celebrities. Some of the responses are clever, and some are piss poor. The only drawback is that each segment is cut off for a commercial once you finally get relaxed. Damn world of advertising. At least Gene Rayburn's terrible voices make up for it.

Match Game
is fucking awesome. Easily one of the greatest game shows of all time, and Gene Rayburn is one of the great hosts.

As a kid, I remember that I liked McLean Stevenson when he sat in the "Richard" spot. They don't play episodes with him on it very often. Bill Daley is also good down there too.
Used to have a crush on Fannie Flagg.
It wasn't until recently that I appreciated Betty White. She was good.
I also liked that lady who played Murray's wife on Mary Tyler Moore (I forgot her name.)

McLean is much better than Richard. Ever see the one where he and Gene switch places, so that he hosts the show while Gene answers?

Murray's wife was named Marie, played by Joyce Bulifant.

It is hard to say whether McLean was better than Richard. Before Richard's ego got hold of him, he was the star of the show. He was (arguably) the reason why people watched the Match Game (at least the ladies.)
McLean was definitely better than Richard in his "pouty" days. He was probably always funnier, but didn't quite have the sex-appeal.
