The mindless rantings of a filmaholic.
25 more years and he gets the Shiny Silver Dollar!

Today was my father's 75th birthday. For his age, he's been able to do a lot of stuff that you wouldn't expect out of an old guy. Last summer he walked 3Km to the beach everyday and swam in the lake for about 2 hours, then took the bus home. This winter he spent the majority of his time, out shovelling snow, even though we warned him about his recurrent pneumonia.

In the last week however, he took a bad fall, and has resorted to walking with a cane. It seems like it will now be a permament tool in his life, and he seems to have trouble with creating the same range of mobility he once had. His sight, and hearing are going, but that's to be expected. His hair is whiter than Bill Gates, but it's still growing strong.

We ended up going to Mandarin for dinner, because in our house, Chinese food is worthy of special occasions. I took him around the buffet, and we ended up stuffing ourselves to the point that Fortune cookies seemed like 52 Oz steaks. I ate 4 platefuls of food, including 15 pieces of Sushi, about half a chicken (in weight), and enough meat to equal 7 THICK hamburgers. Then I had dessert where there was 18 little sweets, 2 platefuls of fruit, 6 cookies, 1 cup of Jello, and 2 cups of pudding. I finished the night off with a bowl of ice cream, and 3 slices of coffee cake. When I went back for more Sushi to take home, the plate in my hand was literally shaking!! I also went through 4 Ice Teas, and 3 large glasses of water thanks to a whole, red jalepeno pepper that I didn't notice amongst the vegetable fried rice.

Needless to say, I was stuffed, but then we came home and we had birthday cake, which I followed with a heaping bowl of Cap'n'Crunch, simply because it's been so long since I've had he Cap'n.

I probably ate for than 5 pounds of food tonight and I love it. I can't wait to see what happens to weight. We've definetely got a gut tonight, but I wonder how long it will take before the gut disappears, and I return to my ever-lanky 170 pound weight.
