Last summer, amidst my 200 flicks that I watched in June, one of the memorable ones was "Tape." It stars Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Robert Sean Leonard. It's all about 3 high school buddies who meet in a motel room and painfully remember their shared memories. Ethan is a drug dealer, Robert is a film director in town for a festival, and Uma works at a (Doctor's?) office in town.

Amidst the awkward setting of the motel, there is also a history of relationships that involves the trio, and inevitably fuels most of their anger, and awkwardness. Ethan Hawke is great in this movie as the care-free drifter who chooses to jump right into emotional queries, and Leonard plays the patsy who develops a backbone to a tee. Uma isn't in the entire movie, but her presence is still worthwhile. The chemistry of these three actors makes this film what it is. The film isn't a glitzy airbrushed movie, but the interseting camera angles and use of the bathroom mirror, let Linklater's work shine. Ah yes, I forgot to mention. The person behind the camera for Dazed and Confused and Waking Life, brought this little beauty to the screen. It was selected for numerous festivals and is definetely worth watching. I saw it at 6PM on a Tuesday and it entertained me. Considering the timeslot, that's a pretty big accomplishment.

This blue wallpaper is tripping me out!!
