Doesn't look so good.

Well from what i can muster, it seems Riddick has been on the run for the past five years, avoiding bounty hunters, and the law. He now finds himself trapped in a war between Lord Marshal (Colm Feore) of the Necromongers, a society that is bent on destroying all humans, and a race of "Elementals." Riddick finds Kyra (Thandie Newton) a friend from the past, who I'm sure will become more than a friend, and he tries to break the two of them out of a subterranean prison. It sounds like he's been caught and thrown into a prison that is situated on a planet, whose days range from arctic nights to volcanic days. He ends up getting them out, be he ends up aboard a Necromonger ship where he must fonfront Lord Marshal, a warrior priest who is the leader of a sect that is waging the 10th and perhaps final crusade 500 years in the future, and everything....EVERYTHING is hanging in the balance. So far the story is shit. But who gives a flyin' fuck about the story. Anyone who loved "Pitch Black," liked that movie because of the character Riddick, and his mesmorizing eyes. Riddick, perhaps the only suitable role for the monotonous, unemotional Diesel, was the substance of Pitch Black. I sure hope they don't make him all mushy with this Thandie Newton lost love crap. We all know he was gonna leave those people on that damn planet, if it wasn't for that girl, but that was understandable. That was about sex. I really digged Pitch Black, and as soon as I heard that the chronicles were going into production. I even became outraged when I heard the pre-announced Rating of R. I've seen the teaser trailers. I broke out in a sweat when I saw the first trailer, just like when I saw the Spiderman teaser before Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It's only after seeing an actual trailer, that I am no longer excited to see the movie, but excited to see if the movie is actually good. Please Hollywood Please! Please don't ruin another great character! There are things in life other than money.

I guess the only upside so far, is to see that Judi Dench, OF ALL PEOPLE, is leader of the "Elementals" named Aereon, an ambassador from the Elemental race. She is an ethereal being who helps Riddick unearth his origins. If she's in it, and it's not about some old dead queen, it must be good. The trailer is disappointing, but the Flash opening to the website is great with gothic artwork and Dench's beautiful narration. So far the production stills are absolute shit. There's one of Diesel standing amongst some cameras; oooooo. Then there's his shadow; ahhhhhh. Oh and one with him and Newton; boooooo. Plus there's a shot of him in a very shiny room. But what pisses me off is that throughout all of these pics, is eyes aren't covered. HAVE WE FORGOTTEN THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER MOVIE? His eyes still have the surgical shine 5 years later. Another thing, if this is five years later, why do I keep seeing this movie billed as a Prologue? What is happening to my cinematic world? Should I expect Carrot Top to win Best Director any time soon? To quote Matt Kennedy Gould..."What is going on?"

Somebody put a statue in Cheech and Chong's backyard.
This is the only respectable pic I could find. How sad is that?
