In every class, there is that one guy. The one you sit next to, and wonder, "What the hell is going on in your head?" For me, it was a kooky Romanian in my Latin class. I loved that guy! There are so many phrases that I hold dear to my heart. "Jew-eese!" "The password is.....nipple." "Let's see you translate in turbulence!" My reasoning for taking so much of your time was that this kooky Latineer, was the weird guy to me. This is a stretch, because normally, that title belonged to yours tr...

During my Sake night, all of the rushes of Memento came roaring back in a surly haze. The first time I ever saw Memento was at the Canada Square at 4:05pm, on July 15th, 2001. I believe it was a Sunday, and was the last day that Canada Square operated under Cineplex Odeon. After that, it turned into an offshoot of the Famous Players' Silvercity, which was down the street. I hadn't seen the commercial for Memento, but I had seen the ad in the paper. The poster of Memento gave me one...

This week, I decided to focus on a good, family targeted movie that I love to watch. "Door to Door" is a docudrama about Bill Porter's struggle to live a normal life. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Bill struggled throughout life. Living with his mother, Bill set out to find work, to help support his loving mother. He soon found that, once again, Cerebral Palsy had crippled his life. He was considered unemployable, but due to his immense courage and determination, he was able to obtain a job...

Before we get into things, I would like to state that "Milkdrop" is not a movie. It is a gift from the visual gods. Adam let me in on this little gem. Milkdrop is a visualization for Winamp and it is amazing!!!! Before I knew of MD, I watched "Battery: Randomization" on Windows Media Player. It was pretty cool. The rotating windmill, and the endless tunnels were highly addictive, and provided another excuse to sit in front of my computer for an hour, staring at my screen. MD, however, c...

Last summer, amidst my 200 flicks that I watched in June, one of the memorable ones was "Tape." It stars Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Robert Sean Leonard. It's all about 3 high school buddies who meet in a motel room and painfully remember their shared memories. Ethan is a drug dealer, Robert is a film director in town for a festival, and Uma works at a (Doctor's?) office in town. Amidst the awkward setting of the motel, there is also a history of relationships that involves the...

In the past few weeks, I've seen some good movies, and I've seen some stink burgers. These two are so bad, that I've decided to put all of my rotten eggs in one basket. About a month ago, I rented The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with Sean. We watched it, then we sat there, wondering what the hell we just spent 5 bucks on. The action is fine and dandy. Guns are blarin’’, cars are speedin’’. As for the rest of the movie, uhhhhh, not so good. First off, the story is absolutely lu...

The Thirteenth Floor was right up my alley. If any movie, or book for that matter, involves people discovering that there world is not real, I LOVE IT! While 13F wasn’t as mind-trippy as The Matrix, it does provide a difeent scope of reality to struggle with. Hannon Fuller, a computer scientist, is the head of a major breakthrough in computer engineering. Over the course of six years, he has developed a computer simulated world, circa 1937, where all of the digital inhabitan...
